Committed to the 4th, Ready to Serve Again
My connection to the 4th District isn't just political. It's personal.
For more than 35 years, I have called Lexington home, and more than 30 of those years have been in the 4th District. I raised my four children here, in the same house where they were born, and watched them grow up as part of this community. Today, all four are adults, with my youngest now 21.
Living in the 4th District for more than three decades has given me a firsthand understanding of the people who live here, the issues our residents face, and the opportunities we have to make our neighborhoods stronger. This is not a district I came to know from a map or a campaign or because I was elected to represent it. It is the community where I have lived, raised my family, volunteered, and built my life for more than 30 years.
That deep connection to the district also meant that when I took office, I already understood many of the people, neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and issues I would be representing. I was able to hit the ground running from day one, and during my first term, I delivered more than 40 district-specific accomplishments.
The 4th District Called me Back
When I left office, I never stopped caring about the people and issues that matter here. When constituents began telling me they wanted to #BringBackBrenda, I listened. They were the ones who created the hashtag, and their encouragement played an important role in my decision to run again.
I have never looked to higher office or thought about the next political opportunity. I want to serve here, in the community I call home. I want to give back to the people and place that have given so much to me and my family.
